Many of the story elements are predictable. All supporting characters are cardboard cutouts. I know this is LITRPG but if as a writer you can’t be descriptive and let me feel like I’m in the world you are creating you aren’t doing the job of a writer. If you can’t make me care about the protagonist and have of the things they do make me sense you aren’t doing a good job either. I’m not a writer myself, so I’ll just say I wouldn’t buy it knowing what I know now.
Jeff Hays also did this annoying echo voice modulation whenever the characters were speaking. Most annoying thing I have ever heard in an audio book. I know Nick Podehl can’t perform every audiobook, but anyone who does perform them should copy him so my listening experience is enjoyable. Then again, performing a bad book is never going to make good listening.
There is no way this book should have gotten so many 4 and 5 stars. I’m not saying the author is paying to have people give him high ratings. I’m just thinking it.
