While I enjoyed the series as a whole, this was by far the worst book in the series. Neven Iliev got away from what made his characters lovable with this story. It appeared that he wanted to give the story an epic conclusion but went too big. In order to do that he jumped ahead many years in the future in the middle of the story and left the audience to figure it out for themselves. The inability of Boxy to understand the social structures of humanoid races was one of the most enjoyable aspects of his character but in this book he blends in perfectly. It was almost as if the author ran out of character development ideas and jumped to an epic battle instead. That said, the writeup of the war was terrible. He wrote it as if it was two individual battles conducted between two RPG groups instead of a well thought through and planned campaign with a purpose. The result was just plain boring. I still enjoyed the narration and this was far from the worst book I’ve heard, just don’t expect it to be the same caliber as his previous three.
