The basis of the story is unrealistic. The Sci-Fi stuff came outta no where and it seemed just thrown in there. I’m a Sci-Fi, Space Opera nut so I’m very into the world building and great character development and such. This seemed thrown together. It did however keep my attention enough to finish the story. I thought the female narrator June’s voice was too high pitched and shriek-ish to enjoy for a longer period of time. she just didn’t seem believable to me. It’s definitely not my favorite Cara Bastone short story but it entertained me on my commute to work. I likely won’t listen to it again like I do with her other books. It was just meh for me.
