At first I was struggling to get through the first half of the book. I found the writing to be kind of corny, the narration bland and the description of Burns, Oregon and the people living there (I live about three hours from there, know ranchers and still visit from time to time) to be lacking, but then the story began to grow on me and I started to get more interested in the characters. I may give the next book in the series a try, depending on the narrator. Although some of the characters were voiced well, the main one, Nick Drake, was hard to endure. I think that was probably the main flaw of the book.
