I was hoping that this story wouldn’t devolve into a teen drama, but it did. The romance in this story starts okay, but is quickly railroaded into a ridiculous love triangle. Some of the characters are well developed and others may as well be cardboard cutouts. The main character is one of those cutouts and falls into the realm of a teenage girl that doesn’t know what she wants. Mind you she’s in her mid to late twenties and somehow has enough experience to be 2nd in command of a space mission; yet not enough life experience to understand relationships. Honestly the best thing I found about this series was the world building. The author does seem to put in a good amount of effort, in that regard. Unfortunately that alone can’t make up for the otherwise juvenile writing.
