This didn’t strike me as graphic as it did others. it describes attacks as they happened but didn’t over indulge in gore, just explained what happened. However the author goes into unnecessary (and not always successful) prose. Also the author has a clear and unrelenting bias against the lower class or anyone on the fringe of society. I found myself more taken aback by the outdated thinking around inherently good vs bad people, not the rather clinical descriptions of violence. Too much of this book relied on the shock value of these women being so average and not “deserving” of the mistreatment you would expect to happen to sex workers or drug users.
