Its starts with an interesting premise and a quirky, if somewhat hard to believe, scenario. With the main character somehow being the only person the current government can find to speak Latin to help with communicate with incoming aliens. It quickly moves past that, abruptly so, by having the aliens just start speaking English out of the blue. The story then proceeds to keep making up reasons to have the protagonist stay a part of the events to point it becomes absurdist.
Then it quickly becomes apparent that the book is out to make anyone who doesn’t believe in Christianity, or God in general, as an idiot. Handing out validations for “The Truth” in religion without actually proving anything, Basically saying “Just Google it” at one point without actually stating any facts itself. Its take on physics beyond basic practical applications is hilariously off. And the conclusion is a big slap in the face to anyone that questions faith in general. Better believe or the aliens will get you, and it better be the right belief too!
My biggest gripe is that this is a waste of the awesome talents of Soundbooth Theater. Jeff Hays and crew are on point as always and his reading at least made the experience more bearable.
