I dont think this is a good entry level book into the cultivation genre. It definitely leans on the reader to kind of understand cultivation in a general way.
That said, the general premise of the story is interesting and and the main character is interesting to me, though i hope there will be more charcter development going forward.
It seems to follow a pattern i have. seen with other xianxia novels that the side characters are very underdeveloped.
Jim is a little too much mary sue at times. He never seems to not have an answer to any situation, though some of that can be explained by the interference of Pride and Wrath. I think the author kind of messed up by injecting them so much into the story, after explicitly saying they could only contact Jim when he leveled up his cultivation.
Travis Baldree is amazing as always.
Overall, this first book did enough to make me want to read the next. Hopefully it gets even better moving forward.
