With a little suspension of disbelief this was a great short listen and I’m definitely interested in hearing how book 2 plays out. I think this book was a great setup for further books in the series and am looking forward to hearing them! I really enjoyed how Jack Hunt developed the main characters to feel more like real people with their own flaws instead of being ‘perfect heroes’.
For the narration, great job by Kevin Pierce with one gripe that I don’t feel like is the narrator’s fault (though it did slightly detract from my enjoyment of this book). I don’t recall this issue when listening to “Final Impact” (narrated by Kevin Pierce) but for this book I noticed a lot of high pitch noise at the end of many words (hard to explain) that were at times distracting and harsh on my ears. Maybe it’s a post production thing or corruption with the download (supposedly the high quality download via the Android Audible app) but I did not notice the same issue with previous books on the same audio devices.
Overall, if you’re looking for a good disaster survival book this is a book for you!
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
