Our protagonist Grayson Rowan spent the last several years preparing for an event that he hoped would never come to pass. Grayson is a prepper, and he diligently taught his family to be prepared for the unexpected. He taught them several survival skills such as gardening, canning, camping, and the use & maintenance of firearms. As is the norm where Kilroy is concerned the EMP event struck while the wife was on a vacation get-away to Myrtle Beach with her sisters and the daughter was away at college. The story transitions through several individuals or groups of survivors detailing their travels and the hardships they encounter during the crisis. The characters are well-defined and likable. Kevin Pierce is wonderful as usual. There is a follow-up novel, Shoot Like a Girl, but it is not available on Audible at this time. This audiobook was given by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom.
