I liked the Christian elements but sometimes found it too heavy handed. The best use of the Bible verses quoted were ones that truly helped the characters reprogram their negative thought patters. The book became overly “spiritualized” when the bullets missed because “God was on their side.” It was a bit too much. I believe miracles happen but maybe just one per book or in a more subtle way.
I liked the suggestion that when the protagonist prayed, he felt peace rather than the time he said God spoke to him specifically to get married “whenever he was ready.” The former is better because it gives courage regardless of outcome and is more in line with most of our experiences with prayer and God. Most of us don’t experience specifics.
I liked how the romance showed how the two complemented and helped each other. Each had an element that the other needed. The characters did grow which was good. I liked hearing a little bit about the characters in past books as well.
