Most chapters cover one of the two main characters, a traumatized survivor turned eco-terrorist (sorta) and the head of the ministry. Their story is interesting, but it is often interrupted with chapters on trying to save the arctic’s ice sheets, or surface level economic theory, or random “what am I?” diatribes about photons or the sun. This kinda leaves me with a narrative whip lash that makes it hard for me to get invested in the story. And, while the multiple diverse narrators is an interesting and unique idea, I think it only exacerbates the problem. I’m 8+ hours in, but I don’t feel the urge to keep going.
