Not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. The protagonist wasn’t very active. Things progressed simply because of his love interest providing for him. Rules applied until they didn’t. And where rules should’ve been stated clearly, they weren’t so when they changed to fit the narrative, my reaction as the reader was, “Ok?” The main character seemed content being broke and there was no real tension in the story because things always seemed to work out and he didn’t really have much to lose. No one had an arc. I also couldn’t pay much attention to the fights because of the background music/vocals. Couldn’t really stand Lady C’s character voice (very Valley Girl). There was no actual antagonist in this story so it just felt listless. Overall I won’t be reading further but am not upset I finished this.
