The Sound of Silence is an emotional, intense, poignant and thought provoking book that sheds some light on the often not talked about but very important topic of domestic violence. Gia finds herself being swept off her feet by Ethan and they have a whirlwind romance. Shortly after the wedding, his behavior changes and things she thought were romanctic or sweet before, she now notices are really controlling, and his whole demeanor towards her has changed. But, she has no way out. With no family and no money of her own, and with Ethan controlling every aspect of her life, Gianna is trapped….and Ethan becomes more and more volatile and unhinged. When she feels her life is in danger, Gia decides she needs to get out, but starting over isn’t easy and looking over her shoulder is all she does, constantly living in fear.

Derek had a chance encounter with Gia on her wedding day and he sensed they had a strong connection, but there was nothing he could do about it… after all she was another man’s wife. Now, three years later, they meet again in a huge city. Derek can tell something has changed Gia. But he can be patient and he can be her friend, and more than anything he wonders if this is their second chance.

The author did an AMAZING job with this most delicate story line. As someone with a psychology/social work background, the nuances of domestic violence are sometimes hard to accurately portray if you have not been directly impacted first hand or have not studied it in depth or have not worked in the field, but the author really did an exemplary job. Her portrayal of Ethan’s character was brilliant. There is so much more more than physical abuse that goes into domestic violence and she really nailed it with Ethan’s character and with the story line in general. I loved Derek’s character and how patient and caring he was with Gia. I would highly highly recommend this story.

Sean Crisden, Sarah Puckett and Connor Crais all did an outstanding job with this intense story. They all delivered fabulous narration full of all the emotions necessary for this story. I would highly recommend them all and will definitely be listening to more of their work in the future. #PinkFlamingoProductions #TheFlock
