This book 2 replicates the perfection of book 1. You need to read book 1 first because book 2 is the continuing M/M romance of the same main characters (even though book one is a standalone with a HEA). Both books 1 & 2 each end with NO CLIFF-HANGERS.
It is a pure joy to experience the ups and downs of the love between two beautiful souls embodied in Aussie Charlie and Texan Travis living and working together in the Australian Outback.
There is a story behind the romance, and it was the combination of story, romance and excellent narration that had me binge-listening to this series (three books on Audible so far). The character development of these two young men across 3 books is extraordinary particularly Charlie’s character. I fell in love with both men myself.
Listening to this romance is a “visual” experience. I say this because the story and narration are so wonderful I could see the story vividly in my mind like a cinematic reel. What an amazing narrator Joel Leslie is. He NAILED the Australian accent which is very hard to mimic well. The Texan accent sounds genuine too. Accents aside, he is skilled at bringing the multitude of characters to life with individual voices, the right inflection, and he creates the right mood, filling my ears with the warmth of the story – a story beautifully written by NR Walker.
All I can do is BEG Audible to (PLEASE, PLEASE!!!) make books 3.5 and 4 available. I know I can read them on Kindle, but I NEED to hear Joel Leslie’s voice reading me the stories. Luckily, the essence of the story is covered by books 1 – 3.
If you love M/M romance, I recommend all three novels in the Red Dirt Heart series available on Audible. I know I will be listening to them again.
