This is a good story with really vividly written characters, but it was not what I expected. It is NOT in any way a fluffy HEA lighthearted book. Although absolutely beautifully told, this story should come with a better warning label. The first half of the book is a great romance that builds between two opposites. Then the book vividly dives into the life of a person with a mental illness, including their thoughts, exterior appearance, and coping mechanisms. All while building a relationship with a partner that doesn’t understand mental illness. The deep, raw, unvarnished thoughts of a struggling person…including their spiral down to rock bottom and their struggle to claw their way back up is intense and heart wrenchingly told in detail. The pain, fear, anguish, confusion, love and hope that a partner feels towards them during the journey is laid out bare there too.
