I LOVED THIS!
Alex and Ada were both new narrators to me but I loved their voices. Ada’s man voice made me pause ALOT she could do the whole book herself, but Gabriel’s voice added something to the back and forth. It would have been great as a duet.
Gabriel is the son of a mob/mafia boss that was betrayed and ended up behind bars where he is treated as criminal royalty. Gabe and his brother Caleb are degenerate, play boy assholes who own a hot club and are trying to go legit while bedding any willing woman they can. Until he gets bored.
Mercy is apparently a gorgeous dark haired 20 something who was living a modest life with her single father. Her mother died years ago and as a result her father and her were close. When a guy from his job at the garage violently attacks Mercy she gets away and goes to her father and the police. When they let him go her father takes matters into his own hands hitting him over the head with a wrench and he dies. This mild mannered father ends up behind bars without any possibility of getting out. Unfortunately, a cousin or uncle of the sleaze he killed is also in prison and has found a way to get to him each week until her father ends up in the hospital unable to breathe on his own.
Mercy is falling apart with worry and Gabriel is bored and looking for a new challenge. When he offers do protect her father for a blow job she slaps the taste out of his mouth. Highly satisfying to hear. But once her father is on deaths door she takes Gabe up on his offer to spend a week with him in his bed. She put up a decent fight against her attraction but man once she started weakening you could not blame her. HOT 🥵
Caleb is annoying as hell. His pension for group sex is cringe at best. A part of me thought he would be perfect for Mercy’s selfish blonde space cadet friend she went to the club with. She seems just annoying enough to keep him on his toes.
