Aside from being perhaps the highest value vs price book that audible has to offer, this is a very entertaining and listen-worthy series.
As expected, this is a collection of stories about a space faring futuristic fantasy. Shockingly, it also includes magic. And not the kind of magic you would expect in futuristic space drama like “the force” or something mysterious…this is the Merlin & pointy hats type magic. I readily admit my purchase would not have happened if I were aware of the magic aspect, but grudgingly also admit the magic worked, and added much needed depth & alternate plot lines to rather predictable plot lines.
From book to book the author transitions very smoothly and there are no plot breaks, or story shifts. What must have spanned many years worth of writing, or even decades – comes off as one continuous smooth piece.
The narrator is outstanding, and a new favorite. Not only does he utilize different voices for each character, he has different staccato, cadence, accents and lisps bringing the entire cast to life. At no point was I unsure of the dialogue, or which character I was listening to. Super, super job.
