Jeff and Lucky were fantastic, and I loved the added effects like chuckles, gasps and thumps added into the audio mix, as well as layering voices over one another when appropriate. Very immersive and high quality.

I did have one main issue with the story, but many others seemed to share the opinion.

(=======| SPOILERS! |=======)

The issue was the Cas relationship that sprung up from essentially one meeting in the last book with attempted mind manipulation and a follow up meeting that lasted at most an hour, which was enough time for a woman that was mentally in her 40’s or 50’s to feel extremely interested in a stranger that they were pretty sure was older than he looked. After about 10 minutes of additional talking and a break for exploring, they run into each other and they’re both about ready to jump each other. I’m guessing there will be some hormonal explanations coming up, but given that Rowan was constantly suppressing most emotional responses with ease and has over 100 years of logic and experience to apply to himself (and he does several times in both the manipulation and the hand holding walk) it almost feels like he explains his side of the infatuation as “F*** it.” Cas on the other hand has thoughts that don’t really feel like they’re as experienced as the should be for someone who has apparently been practicing and applying emotional manipulation for a while.

The whole thing just ended up feeling like it was either way too fast for their backgrounds/personalities (more for Rowan on personality, Cas doesn’t have much of one developed yet), or a bit distasteful in seeming that Rowan is participating in this relationship to see about manipulating that chaos alignment bar.

I guess it could be in character for Rowan to do either, but it doesn’t feel like the established mindset of doing what it takes to save humanity that he has currently, where he rules out more heinous actions and responses thus far and finds a different angle.

Still going to keep listening, just wanted to raise some questions on the quick turns and development left interrupted at the end of the book.
