Ok so I’ve now listened to the whole duet, the first book had its issues but it was intriguing enough that I wanted to finish the story… it wasn’t really worth it. Minor spoiler here, but the MMC maimed the FMC’s dad’s hand during a torture session for beating the FMC with his belt, well guess what, in book 2 the MMC whips her with his belt. No it wasn’t some kinky consenting session, it was for punishment. It was abuse and it felt really gross. We’re supposed to believe that he loves her but it seems like any time there was an issue she was being “punished” when a conversation would have solved the issue just fine. The spicy scenes were also pretty boring and nothing felt genuine in their relationship. It was basically insta-love but they never really acted like they loved each other.
