TAKING SHAPE does a praise-worthy job of examing every entry in the HALLOWEEN film franchise, from the scripts to the novelizations to the finished (and unfinished) products. What fans get is an insider’s look into the development and production of one of the most iconic horror movie franchises in history. McNeill and Mullins offer their own commentary on the films, and while I don’t always agree with their takes, I find they are thoughtful and informed. Ex: no, Halloween: Resurrection will never be a good film, even if I haven’t watched it in some time.
Highly recommended for HALLOWEEN, horror, and film fans alike.
Christian Francis deserves a shout out for his narration. I LOVED his dramatic readings of Loomis’s lines and thoroughly enjoyed how he read the interviews. Well done.
