Need I say more? Grab your credit and click that button! This is a perfect story for a reader who may not be certain whether m/m romance is for them– you will relate to the characters and see them for what they are: people in impossible circumstances doing the best they can to survive and snatch happiness where they can. The love/romance is beautiful and feels so natural. So many fascinating issues are explored in this book– the possibility of alien life, the way humans might interact with them, slavery, love, affection, impotent frustration in the face of hopelessness, and so much more! Joel Leslie brings every character to life so exquisitely that I simply don’t have the words to describe the experience of listening to him perform. He is a true artist, a master of narration. He seamlessly transitions between various accents and attitudes as the chapters progress (each chapter is told from the POV of one of the main characters– an interesting choice that just WORKS!) What if aliens existed? What if other races enslaved each other and alien cultures were destroyed, as they have been in our own history? What if love were not associated with shame, guilt, or fear? This book is for anyone who loves books for their ability to cause you to feel, experience, imagine, and contemplate complex and compelling subjects, all while being performed by the best narrator I’ve come across! And… it’s a TRILOGY! You won’t regret this purchase!!
