Ugh this was a tough read. If it was described more as a tragedy than a romance I would have maybe had different expectations. This is not a romance in anyway. The love scenes are so uncomfortable. I had a similar childhood and experiences and I feel that this was a very romanticized version of what really happens to these little girls and the mindset of the men doing it. The author tried to make Kellan a good guy but he was not. He would have went with an older woman long before but they made it clear no one would have him. Alot of it was relatable though and the story felt very real so for that I finished it. But it felt like I just read Lolita.
