- Where does Journey rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
- I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator. This book falls in the upper ranks of books I’ve listened to. While the characters can be a bit annoying, they’re not too bad and the narrators do a good job.
- What other book might you compare Journey to and why?
- While this is another apocalypse book, it’s a different take on one. It doesn’t have the grizzled marine that knows how to do everything, it has a group of college kids trying to figure out how to survive. While Ripley is a prepper she’s a generic one, someone that expects something bad to happen, has somewhat planned for it but is in over their head too. I just wish the book hadn’t just ended, I’d rather have a cliffhanger than something that just stops.
- What does Kevin Pierce and Becket Royce bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
- They really add to the characters. While you can imagine what each character sounds like, how they act, the narrators do a very good job of making it a richer experience. I didn’t have any problem telling the characters apart, they do a good job in making the voice unique. They also help add to the tension of the story, if the characters are going to survive or not.
- Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
- While I’d prefer to listen to this in one setting, I didn’t have a problem listening to this over a few days either. It was easy to pick up where I left off, remembering what happened before. I was interested in what happened next, even if some of the things seemed like dumb ideas and plans.
- Any additional comments?
- This was an interesting new take on the usual story and while I’m not sure if I’d want to listen to the next story, I’m also curious enough that I might.
