Not much else to say that I didn’t already say in my review for the first book in this series. It follows a lot of the same tropes, IE: simple characters and dialogue (most dialogue is still just exposition), some fun action sequences, and snarky humor. However it does break away from them a few times and gives us multiple perspectives this time, compared to only Dash’s pov in the first book. We also get small tidbits of character feelings and and backstory occasionally. The potential is there, but it feels like the writer isn’t giving all they got.

My biggest gripe, it feels like this books title “The Dark Between” and the next book “Star Forged” as well as the cover art should be swapped. There was quite the lack of The Dark Between in this book (it showed up briefly like twice) and instead revolves primarily around The Forge (an Unseen repair station) snd fighting another giant space mech (which is shown on book 3’s cover instead). Just a nitpick.

All in all, still a fun and cheesy scifi story.

That being said, I’ll likely go onto book 3, just not sure when. Hopefully it flushes out the characters some more and cuts the exposition down.
