Once you notice how many times the author says “I said” or “Frank said” you feel like pulling your hair out. It’s non-stop. I’m not a talented author, but even I know that you should tell a story without repeating “blank said” over and over and over again.

The story line is linear and predictable, it’s about as gripping as having someone read the dictionary out loud. The writing itself has color, but the plot is grayscale. The author has talent, and a sense of humor, but he needs to work on a more interesting way of developing the story, instead of just describing events as they ramble along. And he needs to stop using “blank said” as a crutch.

And that’s what She Said.
