I love Jennifer Hartmann. She is the only person I trust to rip my heart out and shred it to pieces because I know she will put it back together and all the pain will have been worth it.
I went into this book pretty blind when a friend insisted I needed to read it and I’m glad I did. The emotional impact was so much greater than if I had any idea what to expect.
I loved Brant. He was such a remarkable guy. He was kind, caring, and determined to be nothing like his father. Samantha was right when she said he always puts love first, regardless of the consequences. He loves with his whole being. Nothing was more important to him than the June and the Baileys.
I really liked June. She was so bright, loving, and optimistic. But I feel like Brant and Theo were a little too good at protecting her because she lived her life as if nothing could go wrong. That choices made wouldn’t have consequences. I felt like she was completely dismissive of his fears about their relationship. She has nothing to lose where as he was rising everything. But I think so much of that was her youth. By the end of the book I felt like she had grown so much and was so happy for her and Brant.
It’s funny because the thing that bothered me the most in the whole book was a romance between two side characters. I loved one of them so mich and loathed the other entirely. How does Jennifer make me hate some people so mich?
There was just so much love, joy, and heartbreak in this book. It was the definition of an emotional rollercoaster. I also highly recommend listening to the playlist as you read. I was transported back to my angsty teen years while listening which also brought me a weird amount of joy.
I split my time between listening to the audiobook and reading the kindle book but I really enjoyed these narrators.
