I’m a bit torn on this review.

First, I loved the hurt/comfort that we get. Both MCs are so damaged and then throw in a sick kid – wow! – so much angst!

I loved the HEA and the choices that get made regarding the “retribution” as well as the overall outcome.

I loved Matty! What a trooper! His superhero fanboy-ness was adorable!

What I didn’t love: The first physical scene between Tate and Hawke. It wasn’t rape, but it wasn’t exactly consensual and it definitely made me uncomfortable.

I also didn’t love how long Hawke drew out his feelings for his ex – despite his obvious attraction and feelings for Tate.

I also didn’t love how Tate allowed Hawke to just walk all over him – most of the story!

But… I did love the feels and the very sweet ending … so – all in all I can say I enjoyed this. But it had it’s hard moments.

I am consistently impressed by Joel Leslie’s narrations! He manages to give every character a unique personality through his voice and his pacing. Female and child roles are done with as much skill as the older, male character voices. He’s a master at drawing the listener in and persuading them to become involved in the story, no matter the subject matter.

Highly Recommended!
