As stated in the header of this review I am fully aware of how terrible a person I am. This is made manifest by how I am using this review as a opportunity to talk about my self first and not the quality of this book which is the only reason why anyone would be reading this review to begin with.
That being said I loved this book. The first one was so awesomely rendered that I was afraid the author would be a one hit wonder and fade from the stage with the whimper that is calling card of flash pan brilliance. But no, Neven demonstrates that his random hodge podge of tropes and ability to interject surprises is more powerful than even the most cynical of hard eyed veteran of the minefield of undersexed chauvinistic geek wet dream fulfillment that has become the pervaling wind in LITRPG’s sails.
That doesn’t mean that there aren’t some (to coin the Main Character) tasty bits that will definitely serve that purpose. After all the aptly titled Everyone Loves Large Chests is far from a misnomer. The view point of these and all other activities from the innocent (of carnality only because Boxy still has a hankering for meat and all options of it are viable) standpoont is a very unique and delightful way for us the reader to enjoy the ceaseless carnage that Boxy reaps on an unsuspecting populace.
You laugh, want to cry (most likely from laughing so hard) and cheer own our unlikely protagonist as he… she… it Yeah it lives a life that any monster would appreciate.
The absolute energy and boundless range of voices portrayed by Jeff Hays are never a disappointment. So much so that I fear the man may suffer from dissociative personality disorder. I am no mental health expert mind you but the ability to convey so many personas at one time leads itself to this theory. It saddens be to no end that such entertainment can be gained from such a tragic soul’s plight. But like the common reality television addict I would gladly gawk in nearly abashed horror through my fingers at antics at play then to be relegated to a monotone performance. If one finds this offensive invite them to see disclaimer. You were warned.
That being said there are not enough stars to convey how engrossing I found this tale of monster evolution to be.
Neven I don’t care how many prude, self-righteous, anal broomstick holsters attempt to debase your name, because of your fearless use of tropes that are more common as search criteria for hentai manga sites than audio novel I find it refreshing. Keep these books coming Neven I can’t wait to read listen and see more.
A review by a Terrible Person.
