I put off buying this book for a long time because of the warning in the summary, and honestly only ended up buying it because it went on sale, so here is a clarification of the summary’s disclaimer: there is language, but mostly only when under stress, there is some graphic violence, but not more than most action movies, and there are mentions of sex, but never descriptions. That done, I loved this book. Similarly to LitRPGs, it has very explicit and rapid growth, which I enjoy. The protagonist is a bit of an anti-hero, really just out for himself, though there is some simple character growth by the end as well. I felt like it had excellent pacing between times of fun, humorous interactions and times of crisis, plenty of joyous discovery and excitement, with enough challenge to keep things moving forward and provide a sense of accomplishment. I fully admit that this is a candy book: not good for you, but so much fun.
