He can tell great story and obviously does thorough research. His characters are relatable and well developed, sometimes a little too developed IMHO. That’s part of the “hate”. In his multi-part series, the 1st book is mostly character development and backstory. You don’t get any real story until at least 1/2 way thru the 1st installment. Then each book is only about 6 hrs of listening. These 6 part series could easily be 3 part, but then he would sell 1/2 as many books. That being said, this is a good tale and I will probably finish the series. I heartily recommend the Yellowstone series. New Madrid Earthquake was a stand alone book that I wish would have been a series. There you have it love/hate.
