I went into this expecting slice-of-life litrpg, with a strong emphasis on comedy/silliness. I mean, the premise of this whole book is “a quest to find a load of bread.” I got everything I expected… and some.

The book started out GREAT. I’m talking, really good. It was burning quickly, but not super quick. The book had some GREAT momentum going. It was funny, witty, quickly paced… and out of nowhere… it comes to a complete dead stop. The beginning 10~ chapters = good, and after that… Almost 4 chapters in a row of.. nothing. Progression went from the main focus of the story, to the least important as quickly as it could have. It was abrupt. The focus moved to the MC trying to get everyone else to progress, and leaning heavy into the Slice-of-life.

I’m sure this book is for MANY types of people, but if you are expecting something like I mentioned at the start… this just aint it.

Another gripe I have with this style of book:

I knew the MC was supposed to be “OP”, but like a lot of books that want to have an “OP” MC, the author fails to lean into it while just using it as a scapegoat to make the MC just win everything. Surface level the author pretends the MC isnt OP, but we all know the author wrote the MC to be OP. I can’t stand the cheap writing that comes with this style of writing. You should either lean into it heavy like “System Universe” does or just make the MC have “normal” progression. Stop this in-between none sense. It’s such a poor style of writing.

TLDR: I’ll finish this slug fest, and i’m sure it will be “okay”. However when you’ve read THOUSANDS of books, “okay” just doesn’t do it anymore. Author wrote the MC to be “OP” but he doesn’t want to lean into it. The book starts quickly, which is good, but SLOWS TO A COMPLETE stop only after 10~ish chapters. It does pick back up, but the abrupt halt was deafening. Also.. pc culture book.
