I want to enjoy this series, I’ve put effort into mindfully appreciating worldbuilding. However, I’m exhausted from waiting for some feeling of progression in the characters or plot.

At one point we learn the secret to power is leveraging available tools effectively. Excellent motif, I’d love to listen to the characters overcoming obstacles by using their available tools effectively. Instead, Jason powerlevels an elite dungeon by following a demigod, then goes super-saiyan off the “desire to protect his family”.

Turning the luck orb into an ouija board seems clever at first. But when you have an omniscient luck orb with the power to change the past and nullify death, the ouija board use seems minor in comparison. Building a gundam feels like underutilization rather than some clever exploit.

I can embrace a story where protagonists have godlike combat prowess, but I still want to see them grow and develop across some other axis. After several chapters of everyone contemplating their relationships with other party members, none of the characters feel more emotionally mature. I also don’t get a sense of the characters working out their flaws or working to assimilate into their new culture.

Although I love Hays narration, I have to put this series down.
