Book 1 was just decent, but it belabors the same thing over and over. Wight’s writing is good, but it did not pull me in; not the type of book you can’t put down. I wanted it to end so I could move on to the next (better) novel in my library. The magic system was uninteresting and thus I could not get into or care about the characters. So, I was hoping for an uptick in book 2. Not any better. I am in the minority, but the book was not for me. Will not be reading the remaining sequels.
