I feel like there was breaking on BOTH sides

I really enjoyed the story that was happening here, but for some reason I just couldn’t connect to the characters at all. I can not pinpoint what it was about them. I usually have no problem with arranged or coerced marriage stories, but I just didn’t feel like they connected on much more than a sexual level. I thought that his “grand gesture” was great. But then I also had a hard time with his reasoning behind why he was a jerk in the first place. The narration was fine. And I really like the bad-a** that Ella was! She was totally striving to be in control of her own life!
