Book One: I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Jeff Hays. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.

The world that Michelle lives in is a lot like ours except that humans are part of a society that is ruled by magical creatures. In fact, humans are often looked down upon since they don’t have magic.

Michelle is a witch and her job is to work with the local police departments on magical cases. She’s a consultant and does a good job at helping the police save magical creatures, even making spells for them to use at times. She’s super busy working on cases when her personal life also throws her a curve, although she handles it well.

Witch for Hire grabbed my interest from the beginning and it never slowed down. The ending was good, it was at a good stopping point, but there is more to come so I’m looking forward to starting the next book in the series tomorrow.

I enjoyed the narrator. In fact, I thought it was two separate people narrating. I had no clue it was the same person! He’s great!

Book Two: This is the second book in The Witch’s Path series. I liked the first book but I really enjoyed this one quite a bit more.  Michelle is a young witch but has more power than most witches her age. Her parents are keeping secrets from her and it’s bothering her more and more. I could feel her frustration with them, especially when they tell her she needs to stay safe but they don’t explain themselves.

Although Michelle almost died in the previous book, she is still working with police departments. She’s proud of what she is able to do but she also feels a responsibility to help others when needed. And when one of her best friends is abducted, she tries to work with the police but she has to decide if she is going to go rogue to find her friend. She had sworn she wouldn’t put herself in that kind of danger after the last time, but now her friend’s life is at risk. The more I read (or listen) about Michelle, the more I admire her. Of course, Michelle has faults just like we all do, but she is someone who deserves respect.

There is still someone after Michelle and it wouldn’t surprise me if there are more than one someones after her. Things seem to keep getting more and more dangerous for her and she’s lucky to have as many friends as she does. They often seem to know that she needs help before she does. She and her neighbor Elron are getting closer and he’s a good ally for her to have.

Jeff Hays is one of the best narrators I’ve had the privilege of listening to. He is able to not only do multiple voices but he can do both genders. When I started listening to the first book in this series, I thought there were two people narrating.

I definitely recommend The Witch’s Path to anyone who likes fantasy. There’s also humor, a touch of romance, magic, and suspense…I almost forgot…and a dinosaur! I’m looking forward to listening to the next book.

Book Three: A Witch’s Trial is the third book in A Witch’s Path series. I listened to Witch for Hire and A Witch’s Path in the past couple of weeks. I’ve enjoyed listening to these books and look forward to reading or listening to more in the series.

Michelle continues to face supernatural problems when called by police departments. The more publicity she gets, the more offers she gets to join clans. Some of the offers are more like threats if she doesn’t join. Once in a while Michelle seems a bit whiny but she has a right to with all that is on her plate.

On top of all that, there’s a demon on the loose. Everyone thought demons were a myth or that they were all gone many years ago but they were wrong. Michelle and Elron know they need to find a way to kill the demon but it’s been hundreds, maybe thousands, of years so how could there be anyone still alive to tell them what they need to know?

The narrator is amazing. I originally thought it was two people narrating but it’s just one. He does a great job doing both male and female voices.

A Witch’s Trial is full of excitement, action, heartbreak, and fantasy.
