I enjoyed EVERYTHING about this book!

I enjoyed EVERYTHING about this book! The MC, a police officer in his former life, has a strong sense of justice and a desire to defend the weak that he takes with him into a new world. But he has a “lone wolf” mentality that makes him think he has to do everything himself. It got him killed on Earth and is a hazard in his new life.

I love that this is NOT a coming of age story. The MC is an adult, not a teen with high school drama or parent issues.

This has a bit of cultivation and a bit of game mechanics, but the system isn’t explored too deeply in this book. I hope to get more details in the following books, but I thought the balance in book one was perfect.

The narrator does a FANTASTIC job bringing out the personality of each character. Five stars just isn’t enough!

As with any great book, I wish it was longer. That said, I don’t feel short-changed at all. This is a compete story and an excellent first installment for the series.
