First, let me absolutely gush over the characters! They are absolutely freaking adorable, and the natural chemistry that grows between them slowly but surely put a huge smile on my face! Zylar with his almost shy affection towards his fierce Terrible One, budding into a sure confidence in himself and his love for Beryl made me fall in love immediately! And on the other side, Beryl with her sheer relatableness and fun references that only us readers will get made her fun to listen to! And don’t even get me started on Snaps, the bestest good boy talking dog. Best character.
The story itself has just enough of balance of action and interaction between characters to keep me motivated and hooked, leaving me wanting to keep listening/reading! I can’t tell you how many times I seriously debated sneaking some earbuds into work so I could listen to more! And to talk about the sex scenes, as that seems to be a bit of an issue with other readers- I will admit, they weren’t quite what I was expecting, but honestly I was so glad that they were different and far from the norm! It’s alien sex goddangit, I want a little weirdness! XD
Another thing that I want to talk about is the narrator- when I first listened to a preview of the book, I was a bit worried about being able to tell the difference between which character was speaking and was admittedly a bit doubtful about how Sarah Puckett’s narration would be. I was so glad to be proven wrong! Puckett’s narration was wonderful, and I was easily able to immerse myself in the characters and the voices they were given- and now, I couldn’t imagine them with any other sort of voice, the ones given to them by Puckett fits each character perfectly!
All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed both the story and the characters, as well as the wonderful narration, and I definetly recommend this to anyone looking for a perfect mix of fluffy sweetness and spicy alien loving!
