Many times I was horrified by this book. It’s perfectly understandable how young Wavy fell in love with Kellen. He being the only one to care for her. He did all the things a father should do. Protection, love, encouragement, education, nourishment, clothed her, talked, listened, played and taught her. But then he crawls through her bedroom window and begins a sexual relationship with a 12-year old girl. And a tiny girl, at that. As much as he seems to be portrayed as a strong man who loves her, he is not. He’s a disturbed man who knows he’s doing wrong. But selfishly does it anyway. Even the descriptions of Wavy – she’s tiny. Even as a 20 – year old, she looks like a child. Only a child molester could be sexually attracted to a child. I mostly hated him. I so hoped she would grow to see him for the disturbed monster he his. Her misery and sheer inability to live without him was the only reason I was happy they ended up together. Has she been able to live her life without him I would’ve been happy to see him in prison for life. I ended up pretty sad at the whole thing in the end.
