So this is my first read/listen of any of Sheridan Anne’s books and it will certainly not be the last! I have been eyeing this series for a long time (dude have you seen the covers?!?!) and have it on my TBR list but when I saw it was coming to audiobook soon, I know I had to wait to get the whole effect. I was not disappointed!
So first lets start off with the narration. I haven’t listened to Lessa Lamb before but I think she did a great job at most of the voices. I think the reason I couldn’t get her a 5/5 was because of her depiction of Milo to be honest. Like I understand he is gay, but the way she did his voice is very stereotypical and not how most gay guys sound (i.e. like guys, not high pitched and nasally). It made me cringe each time she did it to be honest. But everyone else she was superb at! I loved how she did the other male characters, especially Dominic. Like you could tell the 4 main guys different, especially Charlie and Spencer. I also think she was amazing at Ocean’s tone and inflections, and all her emotions, along with Colton’s, and how they interacted with each other. She was able to bring these characters to life for me and I wanted more!!
For the story, the concept wasn’t a new one, some of the things were popular in other M/F and RH bully romances, but that didnt take anything away for me. If you have triggers, I will warn you there are some things in here that you think might happen and be glossed over, but Sheridan keeps it real and explores those tough situations head on. I thought it was a very realistic story and love when contemporary romances don’t seem too farfetched. I loved Ocean as a character, she was sooooo fierce and fearless. I loved her strength, so when she was attacked verbally, physically, or mentally, my heart ached for her. I actually was shocked by a couple things in this, so that was refreshing for me. I am intrigued to know more about what happened, and if her guys had any involvements, and how Colton will change based on the ending of the book. I hope it won’t take long for Ocean and Colt to be a thing again (since I foresee things fizzling out for awhile with the reveal at the end).
Overall 5/5 starts for me, and I definitely would recommend this story and narration to any of my reading friends ❤️❤️❤️ Hope book 2 won’t be too far behind *crosses fingers *
