Welcome to another LitRPG. Henry and Jason are a couple normal students in Seattle when their world changes. They find themselves in another world in front of its god Dolos. Dolos has created a sort of Hunger Games planet called Ludus where you are thrown in and left to survive on your own abilities, or not. Luckily for Henry and Jason (and us) they run into George, another human trapped on Ludus who has been keeping a journal of events since he came here. This gives us all a quick, but thorough background on Ludus, the characters involved, and the game mechanics they will need to quickly learn. Dolos has been collecting test subjects from five different races including Terran. The plot takes a decided bent; instead of primarily players versus the game, it focuses more on captives and captives versus Dolos/Ludus. Delvers is definitely a different slant in the LitRPG genre; almost outside of the genre altogether. Romance is in the forecast and a few of the races inter-mingle so to speak. Towards the end of the volume we learn of the first dungeon; Yon Bae Caverns. The story gets a bit more serious and a lot more interesting when the background phase is over. I became more involved towards the end of the volume enough to look into the next book.
