Slight spoiler- this is not the final book of the series. For a good deal of my time listening I began to fear it was going to end as a trilogy. Thankfully there will be more stories to come!
There are times in every one of these books that I break out in belly laughs. This series, and Jeff Hays’ performance of the characters, is that funny! I go back to listen to my favorite parts at times, and I just keep laughing! With that said, there was a little less to like about this story, particularly in the first half. The problems Fizzy endures are harsh, and I found those elements truly saddening. I took off a star for the really traumatic experience, as The story would have been great without it.
When I see Jeff Hays as narrator I expect two things: amazing character voices and laughter. Jeff’s delivery of both is flawless! Also, when he incorporates sound effects they are always appropriate and flawlessly done. Most fiction doesn’t require sounds, but the Lit RPG genre actually lends itself to them and Sound Booth Theater delivers expert work!
