Warning: This series is not for serious-minded people looking for the next James Joyce or Bronte sister. These books are for mindless entertainment and people with a sense of humor.
I’ve read several funny books, but this is a top three. There were numerous occasions where I was literally laughing out loud and slapping my knee! Spoiler alert if you haven’t read the first book, but having a mimic as the main character creates some outrageously hilarious situations, and Neven Iliev doesn’t miss an opportunity to explore the ridiculous. Add in some quirky demonesses in a lust/hate relationship and a pubescent boy’s imagination and belly laughs ensue.
Jeff Hays does another masterful job with character voices and storytelling. Although I sometimes find the vocal and audio effects a little unnecessary, in this case they were warranted and indeed augmented the listening experience.
