This is probably the highest zombie body count by any single person in zombie fiction I’ve read so far. I can understand how the main character’s mentality also evolved (or devolved) over time but he isn’t unrelatable. The only incongruity I have is that Murphy was introduced as a character that would start fights and land in jail over his name but is then this calming Yoda-like presence for Zed for the rest of the book. Overall, I enjoyed it and it was better than much of the drivel that is out there for zombie fiction.
