This being a true crime book, I purchased it expecting, as usual, to it being more than a one-sided account of the events.

What is missing is the other characters’ perspective, whether friends, family members, witnesses, police, doctors (not just the court-appointed psychiatrists), etc.

The book deals with very complicated and heavy subjects, and in these kinds of situations, it is not near enough to hear just one side of the story, June’s in this case.

I would have liked to have more background information from the police reports and hospital records, for example. I am not disputing the story told here. Merely how it was reported. The book lacks depth, evidential reports and testimonies.

I was also confused by the fact that the names of some of the persons involved in this story had been changed in the book – but not all of them. A discrepancy I found out when researching newspaper articles on the case, which I often do when reading a true crime book.

The narration was, as always, perfect and flawless, thanks to Kevin Pierce!
