I listened to the first book in the series months ago and for some reason never downloaded the rest. Thankfully I finally got around to it! I was so glad to see Hartley’s experience be validated and his healing journey. Sam’s ability to see exactly what people need and to be a safe place for Hartley was beautiful, as was his recognition that he needs to accept love as much as he needs to give it.

Joel Leslie is perfect for these books, and even his (admittedly goofy at times) women’s voices have a nostalgic audiobook feel. I love an audiobook that doesn’t sound like a full ensemble radio drama production.

I wish there were more hea queer historical fiction in this world. I know it’s not realistic in large part, but it is comfortable and warm in a way that nothing else is!
