I never break down to write a review but I struggled to finish this book not because of the authors talent or the voice actors performance, but because the relationship that is depicted in the story is tragic, toxic and I can’t root for it. The writing was compelling, the voice actress did a phenomenal job switching between the characters and although I had to take breaks, I wanted to know what happened. It was a train wreck that I couldn’t turn away from. My suggestion is for future readers to know the content of the book before they take it on. It’s uncomfortable. The relationship is not romantic and the trauma bonding between the characters is what keeps them together despite the inappropriate age gap. Two broken people chose each other and I hated to listen to it, but I stayed until the very end because the author made me care enough to finish.
