an openly practicing wizard in modern times: the concept alone brings to mind Dresden Files, though Jim Butcher doesn’t own the concept and I’ve read other series using this concept and enjoyed it. but then there’s the lady cop connected to our hero and even an involved scene where a mortician gets involved. common, at what point is this not a story of Dresden making? (spoiler!) In this book we even go to a museum and reanimate things! I’m sorry, dino Sue was a little more original.
I liked the narrator. I liked the characters. I want to like the series. Whether intentional or not, I feel like this is just a rehashed Dresden and lacking some real originality to the wizardry world.
