This series takes that concept and runs its hero protagonist through his paces to try again to stop humanity from being destroyed. The action is fast and furious and brutal, constantly escalating.
I might have enjoyed this more when I was very munch younger and just read for escapism. If you are looking for a strong invulnerable stout hardy moral man with absolute evil villains to destroy you have found him.
The narration is perfect for simple military space opera.
