This starts with a great premise, but unfortunately falls flat. I had heard that you just have to stick with it to get to the great battle scenes but when I got to that part they felt flashy but ultimately basic, there’s only so many times a sword can “hit a spinal cord” before it gets stale. The dialog in this book also feels borderline anime dub at times with people internally screaming their feelings and constantly repeating what their thinking.
